The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the world’s most revered educational establishments, serving around 9,000 students and possessing a prestigious history stretching back to 1895.

Ocean first entered into partnership with LSE in 1998 to provide cleaning services to six of its halls of residence. These halls housed 2,400 students and the scope of work included the cleaning of bedrooms, common rooms, toilet and shower areas, kitchens, staff rooms and entrance areas.

Not only did the sheer size of the buildings demand in-depth logistical planning but also, during summer months, the LSE’s halls of residence serve as hotel accommodation for tourists, which would require each bedroom being deep cleaned between the time students vacated and visitors arrived – a window of just one week.

To meet this challenge Ocean brought in 300 additional staff for the initial changeover, allowing us to successfully achieve our goal.

Since the initial contract was signed Ocean has grown its relationship with the LSE resulting in the contract being renewed several times with the additional responsibilities of providing window cleaning and laundry services to eight halls of residence buildings as well as general cleaning to the School’s nursery and staff accommodation.
