As part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint Ocean operates several hybrid electric cars which are assigned to managers who travel frequently. We have banned air travel for business purposes, arranged for our deliveries to be shipped from local depots and purchase cleaning materials in concentrated form ready for dilution to reduce transport requirements.

We can help customers reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by working to segregate waste into recyclable and non-recyclable streams. We can install group bins to facilitate recycling and provide innovative solutions such as compostors and wormeries to assist in disposal of food waste.

Additional environmental measures we have put in place include:

• Banning the use of bleach

• Ensuring all chemicals used are fully bio-degradable

• Using chemicals that are Ph neutral wherever possible 

• Recycling all paper waste produced at our offices

• Discussing environmental issues are at regular, minuted meetings with our clients

• Training staff on the efficient use of water and energy

• Working with biodiversity conservation charity, the World Land Trust, to Carbon Balance the emissions from Ocean group’s activities through projects that also help preserve critically threatened tropical forests.

 

All chemicals, cleaning substances and empty containers used by Ocean are disposed of in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Duty of Care requirements outlined therein.

Our procurement of resources, whether material or human resources, is in line with industry regulations and our own Environmental Policy, meaning clients can rest assured that environmental impact on their site will be minimised across all areas.
