Councils Choose Ocean for new Contracts

OCEAN’S strong start to 2011 has continued as two existing clients awarded new contracts to the company.

A two year agreement with Warwick District Council will see Ocean Contract Cleaning continue to provide interior cleaning and window cleaning to communal areas of the Council’s residential flats.

Feedback received on Ocean’s tender showed the company was rated highly for its price, technical ability and environmental policies.

The new contract, which begins in April, is a re-award of the service agreement originally entered into by Ocean in 2008.

Ocean Contract Cleaning has also been re-awarded its contract with Aylesbury Vale District Council in Buckinghamshire to provide cleaning to the Council’s offices. This contract is also set to commence in April and will run for three years.

Ocean Contract Cleaning Managing Director Steve Berresford said: “I’m delighted to carry on our partnerships with these clients.

“We are in a very competitive market and customers—particularly local councils—are actively seeking best value from their service providers.

“The fact we have been re-awarded these two contracts shows that our customers know we are capable of delivering this.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all our employees at Warwick District Council and Aylesbury Vale District Council. It is their hard work that demonstrates Ocean’s ability to deliver a first-class cleaning service.”

HELPING staff protect young people and vulnerable adults is on the agenda for Ocean’s quarterly training.

A comprehensive course on safeguarding is teaching staff to recognise and respond to risks to children and vulnerable adults in Ocean’s core business areas such as schools, nurseries and social housing sites.

Seminars are being delivered at Ocean’s head office by company Health and Safety Manager Maureen Threadgold and Human Resources Officer Jaina Patel.

The main focus of the training is to teach staff what their responsibilities are in preserving the wellbeing of children, the elderly and disabled adults.

Emphasis is also placed on working effectively with partner agencies and reporting concerns quickly and professionally.

Explaining the importance of the topic, Jaina said: “The safety and welfare of children and vulnerable adults must always come first. The worst thing a person can do if they are concerned is to do nothing.

“Our staff need to know they have an important role to play and that they can make a difference.”
