Bars, pubs and clubs in Kensington and Chelsea are being urged to join the SoundSec-backed Best Bar None (BBN) scheme and keep their pubs and clubs crime-free and neighbour friendly.
BBN is a national scheme that seeks to reward licensees who demonstrate excellent management standards and extra recognition is given to those who `think outside the box'. The scheme provides an incentive for the operators of licensed premises to improve their standards to the level of a commonly agreed national benchmark.
Supported by SoundSec Security and Diageo Great Britain, the scheme currently has a membership of 43 pubs, bars and clubs and is one of the largest schemes in the country.
It is the fourth year it has been running in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Ocean Security Solutions incorporating SoundSec has made a three year sponsorship commitment to the scheme in Kensington and Chelsea and we actively promote it to our own clients within the Borough. To help make sure the initiative’s impact is as wide a possible SoundSec offers free security advice to scheme members who may not use a security provider. In 2010 Janet's Bar, a small independently owned bar at Old Brompton Road, was named overall winner for the Royal Borough after showing commitment to the scheme over the past three years. During this time it continued to raise its own standards, work in partnership with the local authority and other partner agencies and display excellent management practices.
Encouraging bars, pubs and clubs to take part RBKC Councillor Nick Paget-Brown (The Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure), said: "The Best Bar None scheme is an unmatched opportunity to showcase your premises as a safe, smart and welcoming place and to show just how hard-working and committed your staff are towards raising customer care standards. I hope everyone in the borough who runs a pub, club or bar will choose to participate in the scheme this year."
Landlords and managers of all the borough's pubs, bars and clubs will be able to submit applications for this year's membership between Tuesday 3 May and Tuesday 14 June. The winners will be announced at an awards presentation in November 2011.
