Sound Sec Takes First Prize
Ocean Security Solutions Director Steve Webb (centre) collects SoundSec's SEA Award
Ocean company SoundSec Security has seen off strong competition to claim a coveted industry award.
The company, acquired by Ocean in November 2009, has been recognised for best practice in door supervision at the Security Excellence Awards.
The ceremony was held at London’s glamorous Hilton Hotel, Park Lane in October. The Security Excellence Awards are now in their twelfth year and highlight the very best people, projects and processes the UK security industry has to offer.
According to the SEA The Best Practice in Door Supervision award recognises companies that "continually demonstrate professionalism, consistently high levels of service and responsibility to customers, members of staff and indeed the leisure security sector in general."
Ocean Security Solutions Managing Director Steve Webb attended the ceremony to collect his award, presented by television and radio host Paul Tonkinson.
Steve said: "The Security Excellence Awards are widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the security industry so I’m delighted SoundSec has been recognised in this area.
"It was a pleasure just to be nominated but I was extremely pleased when we were announced as the winner.
"We pride ourselves on the service we provide to our clients and I feel being recognised in this way is a just reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff."
Christ the King College, Preston
The Ocean Group is pleased to announce it has clinched deals to provide cleaning services to South East Essex Primary Care Trust and Christ the King Maths and Computing College in Lancashire.
Between them the new contracts will see a total of 11 new positions created within the company, with the majority of new staff transferring to Ocean from outgoing service providers. Both agreements are for periods of three years. Work will commence in December at South East Essex PCT and in January 2011 at Christ the King College.
Ocean Contract Cleaning Managing Director Steve Berresford said: “It is always good news to earn new business but in the current climate, the market is becoming increasingly competitive. Our ability to stay ahead of our competitors and win new contracts like these shows the effort our staff are making. Our success is down to them.”

Ocean Contract Cleaning Ltd gave a grand send off to a long-serving member of staff who retired recently.
David Munson, who worked for Ocean as a Mobile Operative, retired late last month after more than 24 years of working at Colchester Borough Council.
David (65), who lives in Colchester, transferred to Ocean when the company took over the Council’s cleaning contract in 2006 and was a popular member of the Colchester team.
Area Manager for Colchester Denise Morton and Operations Manager Sharon Langley attended a farewell party to mark David’s years of service.
David’s co-workers clubbed together to raise money to buy their colleague a new camera as a leaving present. Colchester Borough Council also sent David their best wishes for the future.
Denise said: “He was a really good member of the team on the mobiles. If asked to do anything he would always do it to the best of his ability. He got on with everyone.
“He will be greatly missed, but we wish him all the best.”
